Art
Vans Contest
To start this project I first started by sketching out the music notes and then I painted those notes all sorts of colors. Then I painted the heel of that shoe purple and the top lining a greenish blue. To finish off the first shoe I painted the rubber trim at the bottom green and then wiped/ smeared it with a paper towel so it was just kind of a tint. For shoe 2 I pencilled out piano keys and then used black and white paint to fill in the color. I painted the top of it pink and the lining like the other shoe that bluish green. I finished off the shoe with "Where words fail, music speaks"
From this project I learned simply how to control the brush more when i paint. I also learned that you can't write in sharpie on these shoes because it bleeds badly. I learned a lot about music notes, their meanings and also the layout of a piano keyboard.

Candy
The process for this project started by hot-gluing the candy to a piece of cardboard and then drawing them out. With the colored pencils I had to mix some colors together, press gently and harder to shade them and then use my pencil to shade the shadows from the pieces.
During this project I learned about shading and blending colors together to make the candy look more realistic. I learned more about shadow shading since I am kind of bad at that but I'm really proud of this project and how it turned out.

Border Project
This project started with picking a symbol to draw, I picked a fish because that represents me pretty well. I drew out the fish and then a painted it the color I wanted. I added the borders just spontaneously and it turned out alright!
THis project I learned a lot about really just painting off the top of my head. I usually plan every little thing out during a project but I just painted whatever came to my head when i did these borders.

Re-invented Letter
The process for this piece started with first gluing a bunch of articles on the page and then making my K from real things. I obviously chose water and a fish because I'm nicknamed Fish. I learned a lot about painting with ink during this project. It was fun but challenging because you couldn't use too much or too little ink or it would end badly!
Clay Vessel
The process we used to make these projects was to first wedge the clay and then roll out our slabs and let them dry out a little over night so they wouldn't be so soft. After that we measured our slabs and cut out the shapes we needed and used slip to mold the pieces together. For me the next step was to carve the pattern into my project and smooth out the sides.
Clay is my favorite project and I chose to keep it simple and make a vase with designs on the front and back. My favorite part was putting the design in because it took a lot of concentration and I was able to add my own creativity to it. The hardest part for me was putting it together because one side was really soft and almost caved in but that got fixed and also making the bottom flat because it just didnt want to go flat on all the sides.

3D
For this project I started by cutting and shaping the cardboard and then super gluing the pieces together to get the shape I wanted, after that i glued the pieces of ribbon around the cardboard and I handmade the little bow on top.
During this project I learned about manipulating cardboard which was kind of hard! This was also the first time I used hot glue to make something.

Dictionary
I chose the word Princess because I love Disney and princesses and just everything. The process by step was: first choosing the word, then using the blade to cut the page out. After that I glued it to the black paper, outlined the words and the crown, used pastels to color in the P for princess and the crown and then I blended in a bunch of random colors for a background. The part I like most about this project is the word and the colors.
Gesture Drawing
To create this project I cut pictures of people in different positions out of a magazine and then I drew them in, shaded them with conte crayons to create the wrinkles and shades of their clothing. The most challenging part was using the black and white together to create it.
Dynamic Foot
Penguin Ornament
Curtain
"The Hub" effected the folds in the drapery because it made the folds more defined where it was pinned and that was hard to shade correctly, you would have folds going out and under in every way. I learned that light affecting the three surfaces would create many different shades, it was kind of difficult to show them. The hard part about making the drapery look 3D was shading it correctly, its hard to recreate folds and make it look like its folding outwards. I really liked working with the charcoal, its an easy tool to control, the only problem I have with the process is using Q-Tips to smooth it out, I hated the feeling of it!
Paper Bags
Difficulties I had drawing the paper bags were showing all of the folds, and also showing that the bag was open at the top. For the coffee wash I started by going over the paper bags and then when it dried I put more layers on the darker parts to shade it. After that was done I went over the entire paper with coffee, darker at the top and lighter at the bottom. The coffee wash was hard because it was like watercolors and I'm really not good at anything like that. If I had the opportunity I would redo all the coffee and hang it better than I did because the coffee pooled in areas on the paper and took away the color from the bags at the top of the paper.
Four Objects
In this project we had to pick four things that are important to us and draw them. I picked a cheer bow because I've been a Varsity Cheerleader since I was a freshman and it's something I can't imagine my life without. I drew my academic letter because school is obviously something I try my hardest at and want to succeed in. The ring I drew is a ring that was given to me by my mom as a "graduation" gift. And lastly, I drew my phone because I, like a lot of people, feel that my phone is something I really need. For the bow I put the focal point on the middle section that holds the bow together because thats where the most detail is. With the academic letter I used the academic symbol as the focal point because that's the point of it. I used the gem on the ring as the focal point of the ring because it's what draws the attention and lastly the focal point of the phone is the screen because that's where everything is.
The parts of my shading that need to be improved is like between the lines of the ring and the shadow the objects cast onto the surface they are lying on. The parts of my work that I think I did really well are the creases in the bow, it took a while but I finally got it and also the academic letter I think turned out really good.
